'Baabul is a progressive film that talks about a father-in-law marrying off his daughter-in-law after his son dies. In India, being a widow is considered to be a curse. And for a young widow it becomes even more difficult so in that context Baabul addresses a very poignant social issue,' said Amitabh Bachchan at an event held to promote his next release 'Baabul'.
When asked why the song 'Kehta Hai Baabul' sung and composed by Big B himself not a part of the audio cd, Mr Bachchan asked director Ravi Chopra to answer it. Mr Chopra on his part stated that the song had been recorded later and since the audio cd had to be released earlier it couldn't be a part of it. But we are going to release it soon,' he said. And is it part of the film? 'Oh yes',' he said.
It was clear Mr Bachchan is very emotionally involved with the song for he made special arrangement of an audio cd carrying the song to be brought to the event venue. The media waited patiently for more than an hour and Big B sauntered in once again in style. He asked the sound guy present during the event to play the song on a laptop while he sat next to him, his head buried low. It goes without saying that not only has he sung 'Kehta Hai Baabul' beautifully, his composing also carries a lot of polish. It was heartening to note that the great man in spite of having achieved so much in life can get so passionately involved with a song sung and composed by himself.
Truly'There can only be one Big B'The man of the millennium.
