Aseem seems to be on a roll these days. Soon after his critically appreciated performance in "The Train' he was signed for the remake of "Pokkiri" and Uru Patel's "Hanuman".
He has also been signed to play the lead in "Ashima', an adaptation of the award winning Bengali novel. Aseem plays a very challenging role of a suave sophisticated doctor who falls in love with a trainee doctor with a mysterious background.
Aseem Merchant who is on a spree to do quality cinema literally went to a hospital in Bandra to do research on his character. He spoke to his doctor friends, to understand the nuances of the character of a surgeon.
Says Aseem, "It's a very beautiful script, with different layers. It's a very subtle and yet challenging. Though I have not read the original novel as I can't read Bengali, but I got a fair idea after reading the script. It's a beautiful story as expected from the rich Bengali literature."
He adds, "As the role has different layers, I am mentally preparing for the role. I am speaking to my doctor friends who helping me with insights."
