K Sera Sera, India's fastest growing entertainment content producer, has changed gears to appropriate the leadership position as a truly professionally corporatised player in the movie business in India.
Parag Sanghavi, Managing Director, K Sera Sera, said, "We have been looking at aggressively scaling up, and I am delighted to announce that K Sera Sera has signed up big ticket directors like David Dhawan, Abbas Mastan, Priyadarshan, Sudhir Mishra, Vipul Shah, Anubhav Sinha and others. We plan to produce more than 20 films, which will be released by end-March 2008, at a total outlay in excess of Rs. 250 crores. The first of these films will go on the floor soon."
This will make K Sera Sera the single biggest player in the Hindi Movies business in terms of volume of output, and should see its topline grow at over 100% year on year in FY 07 and 08 from the expected March 06 figures of Rs. 70 crores. Profitability too is expected to grow at the same rate.
Sanghavi said, "As we look to aggressively scale up, we are keen to consolidate our position by emerging as the first genuine studio in India with broad based creative strengths. We are offering a platform to all kinds of creative talent across all genres. The response from the creative fraternity has been outstanding, and we are extremely happy with our lineup for Season 06. "
K Sera Sera's current lineup is by far more comprehensive and wide ranging than that of other film production majors. The wide spectrum of directorial talent that it has signed up will give K Sera Sera a definite edge in the battle for market share in the Hindi Feature Films business.
Sanghavi revealed: "K Sera Sera is in advanced stages of discussions to forge an alliance with yet another leading Bollywood director who has won immense critical and popular acclaim. We shall share details at an opportune time in the near future."
The company also plans to extend its plans to regional film production in the near future.
K Sera Sera has aggressive plans of 360-degree monetization of each film it will produce. "We have been phased and systematic in drawing our plans and locking in investment," Sanghavi said, "We have been putting systems and teams in place, and recently launched our first initiative of film distribution as a test case in Mumbai, the most important market for film distribution in India."
And although the film did not have a mega star cast, featuring Paresh Rawal and Om Puri, and with Riteish Deshmukh playing only a cameo, the distribution team at K Sera Sera achieved excellent results that were much better than those of mega starrers like Zinda and Family. "We released Malamaal Weekly with a total of 150-plus prints including digital prints in Mumbai, the film achieved a revenue of close to Rs. 4 crores, which was much more than what was achieved by mega starrers like Family and Zinda in the same time." K Sera Sera plans to release more films in the near future too.
With mega directors and complete plans with investments locked in to produce and release over 20 films by March 2008, K Sera Sera has already appropriated the position of the biggest player in the motion pictures business in India. "This is just the beginning. We aim to remain not just the biggest but the most professional film production studio offering creative talent the best atmosphere and facilities to create entertaining films. And at the same time, we are also committed to offering movie lovers in India and the world over the most complete and diverse bouquet of entertaining films. And thereby register healthy growth in company's performance."
