On films and Fashion

If Jodhaa, the Rajput princes could cook Akbar, why can't our dear ladies do the same? Well even before this question is fully out of your mouth pat comes that reply that you are neither 'Akbar' nor do you have any vague resemblance to the guy who played Akbar!

These days with all that wealth and the money even the 'middle class' can afford to, to look and feel good and confident, more and more youngsters, excuse us, and even the not-so-younger generation get their inspiration from the tinsel town. Many of us after seeing a good and entertaining movie walk out confident like the hero or the heroine of the film and try to gel some fashion that we have seen on the big screen into our lives as well.

There was a time when all the bold colors that we had were a taboo and it was the trend of pastels to be worn and appreciated. But now anything that we wear fashionably makes a fashion statement on the onlookers. Be it pastels or the bolder shades like the bright red or yellow everything is the 'in thing' wearing which you will not be stared upon. Once, not so long ago, people would look at you like you have suddenly grown horns but those days are history.

Even when it comes to accessories once the rule of the thumb was 'minimal is beautiful' but these days you could sport a very casual clothing matched with bold jewellery and still make your own fashion statement.

People, especially the women folk watch some flamboyant films just to enjoy and take in the grandeur of the accessories and the clothes that their favorite stars wear on screen. 'Jodhaa Akbar' is one such film where, Tanishq, Tata group's jewellery store was specially roped in by the director to model jewels for the film.

Yet again there are lots of girls who fall for the costumes worn by the heroines for their on-screen weddings, that they go to any extent to get their designers to model exact replicas for their special day as well. One such most wanted costume was a peach and blue outfit that Preity Zinta wore for a song in 'Kal Ho Na Ho'. We can still remember the black and red combo formal sherwani that King Khan wore for the same song.

With so many 'in things' happening at the fads & fashion front even normal homosapiens can look drop-dead gorgeous and absolutely stunning burning not much of a hole in their pockets, many thanks to the ever-inspiring film world.
