This is the most exciting news in recent times. There is this entire bandwagon of producers and directors remaking old classics- from Farhan Akhtar to Rituparno Ghosh- from Don to Sahib Biwi aur Ghulam.
But spring just seems to have come in. Yash Chopra has decided to remake his classic hit of the 70's Kabhi Kabhi. The film was originally made with Amitabh, Rakhi, Rishi, Shashi, Neetu and Waheeda in the lead.
This time around, Yash Chopra's favorite hero of our times, Shah Rukh Khan will step into poet Amitabh's shoes. Akshay Kumar will essay Shashi Kapoor's role.
The film is expected to be a little different from the original. It will not be a frame-to-frame remake. It will have a contemporary touch to it. The approach and feel of the film will be very modern. Of course we forgot, Priety Zinta would essay Rakhi's role.
The USP of the film may be the fact that one can see SRK and Akshay Kumar together on screen. The combination might just work wonders at the box office. Things are still not on paper. So there might be slight changes here and there. But the good news is that spring season of remakes is here.
