Ever since Shootout at Lokhandwala hit the bull’s eye at the BO, director Sanjay Gupta was keen on working for a sequel to it with a different script and after a long gap of nearly four years Gupta has finally got the script from a book penned by Hussain Zaidi.
Zaidi, a well known crime reporter who covered 1993 Mumbai blasts inch by inch for the film Black Friday will be joining hands with Sanjay for the sequel.
‘Dongri to Dubai’ written by Zaidi is the inspiration behind the new film which is titled as Shootout at Vadala. This film will capture the first official encounter killing of gangster Manya Surve in Mumbai. Gupta was all impressed with the details and the insight into the crime and underworld by Zaidi.
Gupta was keen on working with Zaidi and while the latter was working on the book Gupta made sure that he read some portions of it before thinking of it to be made into a film. Zaidi with other writers will be working on the screenplay of Shootout at Vadala.
Wondering which actor would be included in the sequel. Sanjay Dutt won’t be for sure after his fall-out with Gupta.
