Bollywood super star Salman Khan’s special Eid release ‘Sultan’ is setting the new benchmarks for Indian cinema trade. It broke all the opening weekend records grossing Rs. 345 Crores (say, $51 million) worldwide. Yash Raj Films production house has officially reported the collections till the weekend.
As per this update, ‘Sultan’ in the last five days weekend collected Rs. 252.5 Crores ($ 37.7 million) in India and Rs. 92 crores ($ 13.7 million) abroad, highest ever for a Hindi movie so far. Along with Indian audience, the sports drama flick performed extra-ordinarily in foreign territories including Pakistan.
Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma are quite excited with the massive success. Director Ali Abbas Zafar entered into the top league. If Monday and Tuesday revenues come out by tomorrow morning, ‘Sultan’ will be in 400 Crores club eyeing high at 500 Crores club because the collection drops are said to be minimal in most of the areas.
