Highly talented and respected yesteryears heroine Dr.B.Saroja Devi has accepted to play the role of 'Mandodhari' wife of Ravan in R.N.Jayagopal's cherished Kannada television serial 'Ramayana'. R.N.Sudarshan brother of director cum producer of "Ramayana" RNJ is playing the role of Ravan the King of Lanka.
Dr.Devi is accepting very important roles off late in Kannada cinema. In the last film 'Thimma' she played mother to actor Arjun and a documentary on her was started a month back by reputed director KSL Swamee. She is now happy to play the role in RNJ 'Ramayana'. 'Ramayana' in Kannada produced and directed by RNJ with some additional inputs from his research is telecast from March 9th in Udaya TV satellite channel.
Dr.Devi had in fact played heroine in RNR Productions 'Vijayanagara Veeraputra' in her peak period in South Indian films and Hindi cinema in the early 60's. The yesteryears valuable contact has also made me to accept this role of 'Mandodhari' said the actress addressing the media at the RNR Studio inauguration on Monday 25th February 2008.
