'Sandalwood Queen' is all set to contest the first major election in her life time. The actress would be contesting the Loksabha byelections from the Mandya constituency from Congress Party.Ramya had earlier said that she is an aspirant and would be fighting the next year's Loksabha elections if given a chance. There were rumours that Ramya would be either contesting from Bangalore Central or Kanakapura constituency. However, Ramya had left everything to the party High Command itself.
Now the High Command of the Congress party has decided to give Ramya and opportunity to fight the by elections which is scheduled for August last week. It is being said that Ramya has asked the High Command, that she must be given a ticket to fight the elections in the general Lokasabha elections scheduled next year also. The High Command has also given its consent and before that Ramya would be contesting the elections soon.
The election was a result of sitting JDS MP N Cheluvarayaswamy resigning after winning the Nagamangala seat in the Assembly election. The tenure of the new MP will be only till May 2014, when the general elections to the Parliament will be held.
