The sizzling stars of 2007
In 2006, it was a tough competition among Jyothika, Trisha, Nayantara, and Asin. Though they had competition from the likes of Sneha, Namitha, Reema Sen, Sandhya, and Bhavana, the real fight for the top slot was between these four.
Shriya Saran
Come 2007, and you have a dazzling star in Shriya Saran marching towards the top. Though she made a memorable mark in 'Mazhai' (2005) and gave a hit in 'Thiruvilayadal Arambam' (2006), her amazing performance (looks?) in 'Sivaji' in 2007 propelled her among the top actors. The curvaceous girl followed it up with her enticing looks and sensual dancing in Vijay's 'Azhagiya Tamil Magan'.
Asin
Asin, the sensational 'Ghajini' girl, recreated the magic in 'Pokkiri' but her 'Aazhwar' failed to impress. Though she has regained her charm in 'Vel' up to some extent, she can hardly be termed as the top star of 2007, though she has maintained her position among the top. Her achievement, however, came in the form of the offer from Bollywood to play the lead role in Hindi Ghajini opposite Aamir Khan.

Nayantara
Nayantara, who was pushed to the back seat during most part of the year, made everyone sit up and watch with her stunning looks and stylish performance in Billa. Now she is awaiting two major films (Yaradi Nee Mohini and Sathyam) and looking strong to become the top star of next year.
Trisha
Trisha had a very good year in 2006 but 2007 did not bring her good fortunes in Tamil. Her only release 'Kireedam' did not click. Though she is quite busy with Telugu films, she has hardly made any impact in Tamil. However, she has maintained her position as a top star and bagged some prestigious projects like 'Abhiyum Naanum' and 'Kuruvi'.
With her most awaited film 'Bheemaa' is ready to hit the halls in January the smiling beauty is all set to regain her position in Kollywood.
Among others, Namitha continues to titillate with her daring approach and cool attitude. Sneha did not have any memorable film while Sandhya and Bhavana failed to come out with any major hits to their credits. Reema Sen was hardly in the scene.
Though there is no clear winner in 2007, the sensuous Shriya edges ahead with sexy Nayantara following closely. 2008 will see tough competition between Trisha, Asin, Shriya, and Nayantara to become the top star of the year. You cannot write off Sneha, Sandhya, and Bhavana, who could make amends in this list with their projects coming up next year.
