Actor-turned-hero Karan is pinning all hopes on 'Kathavarayan'.
After the big hit in 'Kokki' and 'Karuppasamy Kuthagaikarar', Karan's third venture as hero in 'Thee Nagar' did not do well at the box office.
He is pinning all his hopes on 'Kathavarayan', which is slated for release this week-end.
Speaking about the movie, Karan says, 'I play youth selling illicit arrack in a village but not a villain. Popular heroines Vidhisha and Radha play the female leads. The movie is directed by Salangai Durai.'
A former associate of K Bhagyaraj, Salangai Durai, says, 'It is a hilarious entertainer and the title role is tailor-made for Karan'.
Srikanth Deva has scored the music, while Karthik Raja handles cinematography.
Karan will start the shooting of a film titled 'Kandha' on July 11.
This film is directed by Babu Chandra who is a former assistant of Saran.
He will also be seen in a film titled as 'Kali'.
But for the time being 'Kathavarayan' is the movie which needs to be successful at the box office for Karan.
