Close on the heels of the release of his maiden production venture ‘Thamizh Padam’, producer and son of Union Minister M K Alagiri, Dhayanidhi Alagiri kick started his next movie titled ‘Thoonga Nagaram’.
Quite appropriate to the title, ‘Thoonga Nagaram’ is set in Madurai and its adjoining areas. Directed by debutant Gaurav, a former associate of K S Ravikumar, the movie features ‘Pasanga’ Vimal, ‘Naadodigal’ fame Bharani and ‘Renigunta’ Nishanth in key roles. ‘Thamizh MA’ Anjali plays the heroine. Besides wielding the megaphone, Gaurav also dons an important role in the film.
The movie was launched at a gala affair in Thamukkam Grounds in Madurai on the occasion of Alagiri's birthday. Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's wife Dayalu Ammal lit the kuthuvilakku, Alagiri's wife Gandhi Alagiri started the clap and Alagiri operated the camera. His daughters Kayalvizhi and Selvi were also present on the occasion.
The movie has cinematography by Vijay Ulaganathan, a former associate of K V Anand. Music is by Sundar C Babu, editing by Suresh and art by Santhanam.
The co-producer for the film is Vivek Rathinavelu, production supervision by K Sundararaj and executive production by Sushanth.
