Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan says he's grateful to Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who is said to have recommended the former for the Tamil remake of Malayalam blockbuster "Drishyam".
"I heard it from somebody that Mohanlal wished to see me star in the remake of 'Drishyam'. He felt I'd do justice to the film and recommended by name. I'm thankful to him for that because rarely do stars like me get to work in such lovely films," Haasan told.
Kamal reprised Mohanlal's role in recently released "Papanasam", the Tamil remake of "Drishyam".
Jeethu Joseph, who helmed the original, also directed "Papanasam".
About a father's plight to cover a murder committed by his family, the film also stars Gautami, Nivetha Thomas, Ananth Mahadevan and Asha Sharath in important roles.
The film has already been remade in Telugu and Kannada, while the Hindi version titled "Drishyam" starring Ajay Devgn will release on July 31.
