For the first time in the history of Tamil Cinema a film company's office has been opened in the Temple City of Tamilnadu. In a bid to recreate the earthly nature of Madurai in his yet-to-be-named-film, director Vetri Maaran who was the man behind the phenomenal success of 'Polladhavan' has literally taken his team to camp in Madurai until completion of the film.
Though not much is known about the film yet, preparation for perfection seems to be spot on. Dhanush who got an extended lease of stardom thanks to Polladhavan's success is gearing up to play the protagonist once again. The leading lady of the film is yet to be finalized although a new face is most likely to be cast.
"Except about six characters, all the others actors are going to be from Madurai and most of them would be debutants" declares Vetri Maaran.
Dhanush would don a never-seen-before appearance and is undergoing rigorous training to master the Madurai style of enunciation in order to get into the skin of a really challenging character.
It can be recalled that 'Polladhavan' won tremendous accolades for its refreshing narration style that depicted a distressed protagonist taking on dangerous gangsters in his search for his stolen motorbike.
Would a similar style of narration feature in Vetri Maaran's second venture too? One has to wait and watch. But one thing is sure. Facets of a hitherto unknown world might be brought to light with stunning effect. No wonder the team has firmly rooted itself in Madurai alienating itself from the rest of the world.
Filming is likely to begin in the first week of December and a June 2009 release is on the cards. The film is produced by Kathireesan's Group Company.
