Looks like the makers of superstar Rajinikanth's Kabali are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to the release of the film as they are trying to cash in on the pre-release buzz this Tamil film has created all over the world. As many as 4000 theatres will screen Kabali on its opening day in India alone, is the latest report that's been doing the rounds.
If this turns out to be true, the Pa Ranjith directorial will have a mind-boggling opening and chances are that the film might garner the desired amount in its opening week, irrespective of whether it is good or bad. Out of the total budget of 110 Crore rupees, 1.4 Crores have been spent on costumes alone, producer 'Kalaipuli' S Thanu has said. "We have left no stone unturned as far as the production of the film goes.
We have spent over Rs 1.4 Crores on the costumes of the film alone," Thanu told Firstpost. Rajinikanth's costumes and looks, which has been garnering acclamations from fans and movie buffs, has been designed by Anu Vardhan, whose work was appreciated in movies like Thala Ajith's Billa and Vedalam.
Speaking to Firstpost, Anu has said she jumped at the opportunity when the makers of the film approached her. "They (makers) called all of a sudden and asked me if I was interested in working for the film. Obviously, I jumped at it. We did a look test before the initial photo-shoot. He (Rajinikanth) was already growing a beard. Bhanu, the stylist and director Ranjith were working on the looks," she has said. Also starring Radhika Apte, Winston Chao, Rosyam Nor, Kishore and Dhansika in important roles, Kabali is expected to hit the screen on July 22. It will have its world premiere in Malaysia on July 21.
