Ranjith is a bit tensed up as his Don Sera is nearing completion and getting ready for a release early next month.
A find of director R K Selvamani, Ranjith is playing the hero in Don Sera, which as the title suggests is a movie on gangsters.
Directed by K S Saravanan, an assistant to director Vikraman, Ranjith is optimistic that this film will re-launch him in Tamil cinema. Speaking about Don Sera, Ranjith says, "it is a racy film and as hero, I hope to make a definite impact on Tamil audience."
On his career so far, Ranjith says, "After my debut film, I was cast as hero in K T Kunjumon's Sindhunadhi Poo which ran well. But subsequent films did not earn a good name for me and I had to wallow idly for sometime, before taking up a guest role in my friend Cheran's Bharathi Kannama. But my turning point was in Marumalarchi in which I acted as villain opposite Mammootty for which I bagged the State award for best character. In a way this had stereotyped me as villain in the eyes of producers and directors. For 3 to 4 years, I acted as villain in Tamil films during which time doing a character in Paandavar Bhoomi gave me satisfaction."
