Babu Bangaram, Venkatesh’s recent release was a highly anticipated film. However, the film has turned out to be a no show in the US leaving the distributors there in losses. While the two Telugu-speaking states luckily saw the film doing some decent business, the overseas market has apparently rejected the Maruthi-directorial outright courtesy its routine content.
Initially, Haarika Haasine Creations’ three films A.Aa, Premam and Babu Bangaram were purchased by a US-based distributor for Rs 6.5cr. But since A.Aa fared extremely well there, and he incurred huge profits, he decided to sell one of his other films and hence, sold Babu Bangaram to a third party buyer for Rs 5 cr. Well, that’s where the problem lies. The buyer could only rake in 400k$ (approximately Rs 2 cr), indirectly leading to a loss of Rs 3 cr. Well, his luck wasn’t great, eh?
