With the 'NTR National Feature Film Award' already announced for awardees of 2003, 2004 and 2005, results were eagerly awaited for the year 2006. The results are out and the award for the year 2006 goes to veteran actress Waheeda Rehman!
Krishna won the award for the year 2003, music mastero Ilayaraja bagged the award for 2004 and Ambareesh for the year 2005. The awards will be presented with their honour this month at the Nandi Feature Films function.
Waheeda Rehman born on 14th May 1936 ruled for filmdom for over two decades. Not only was she good in acting but excellent in showcasing glamour too. She attained success with the film 'Jai Simha' in the Telugu industry. She essayed roles in Tamil and Telugu with equal ease. This seasoned actress found her way to Bollywood with the film 'CID' and reigned the north too for sometime.
The jury members for this award consisted of K.B.Tilak, A.Satyanarayana and Jayasudha.
Wahida Rehman will receive 5 lakh rupees in cash, a certificate and a momento.
The 'Raghupati Venkaiah Award' named after the ace runner of Tollywood is awarded every year to people who extend their out standing service to the Telugu film industry. This time the award has been bagged by film producer D.RamaNaidu, for the year 2006. RamaNaidu has also entered the Guiness Book of World Records for producing the maximum number of films (more that 101 in all). The producer has thanked the State Govt. and the members of the selection committee. Expressing his happiness on being selected for the award, he said "Earlier I have received many awards for my work in the industry, However, this is a very prestigious one & I am very happy to have been selected for this."
The jury for giving away this award comprised of Gummadi Venkateswara Rao, P.Sambasiva Rao & K.C.Sekhar, and the award was announced last Saturday.
The chief minister of AP, Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy, Minister for Information & Public Relation &Tourism - Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Mr. Parthasarathi, MD, AP State Film, TV and Theatre Development Corporation Ltd have conveyed their wishes to the awardees.
