Veturi Sundararama Murthy, though a film lyricist of current generation, he had the capacity and calibre to stand by the side of top ranking lyricists and writers like Samudrala, Atreya, Arudra, Pingali and Cinare.
Veturi has an inimitable style of his own and each of his song has a different fragrance of its own. Veturi used to claim that he was able to write such a good literature because he was born in a historic place like Pedakallepalli village.
Nagarjuna University had recently awarded an honorary doctorate to this great poet and lyricist and felicitated him.
To mark the occasion, the Telugu Film Writers Association and the Yuva Kala Vahini, jointly felicitated Veturi at a grand function held at Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Hyderabad recently.
Speaking on the occasion, Paruchuri Gopalakrishna says, 'In Sri Sri's songs, there will be a kind of argument (Vaadana), while in Atreya's song there would be sorrow (Vedana). But in Veturi's lyric there will be experiment (Sodhana). The result of the experiment and research is this doctorate.'
Several film lyricists and writers participated in the programme.
