'Mumbai Cutting- a city unfolds' the unique film has eminent and experienced directors like Sudhir Mishra, Anurag Kashyap, Revathi etc presenting their own short films as a tribute to Bollywood as well as to the great spirit of the city of Mumbai.
Among all the more seasoned film makers a rookie film maker who goes by the name of Ayush Raina got a golden chance and found inspiration for the substance for his film from the tinsel town itself.
He took episodes out of the life of the numerous assistant directors who struggles in the B-Town hoping to make it big some day.
The other highlight of the film is the excellent characterization of the lead roles.
The production company White Cloud's search for actors who can grab the attention of youngsters ended with casting Arjun Mathur who was seen last in Meera Nair's 'Aids jaago', Geetika Tyagi, VJ Juhi from Channel V and Raj Singh.
All the lead actors are said to have performed very well in the film.
VJ Juhi, the stylish girl from Channel V is seen in the film as a Muslim girl clad in a burkha. Arjun Mathur's character does an image makeover and turns into a typical big city youngster in the film.
Though he is acting in a short movie, the entire film's high profile nature and it being premiered in the recently concluded IIFA awards in Hollywood increases the urge for film lovers to go and check out the movie when it hits the big screens in India.
So Arjun Mathur can hope for getting some good offers as he is a completely different character in 'Mumbai Cutting'. People who remember him in his last role of a family boy are sure to notice the excellent way in which Arjun has given life to this character as well.
Ayush Raina found the raw material for his story from the B-Town itself as he wanted to create a good space for himself among the other 10 directors of 'Mumbai Cutting'.
The subject of struggling assistant directors must have felt attractive to the young director because being in the film industry, he can relate more to the essence of the story, thus giving it more life.
And what more should the new director ask for as he got a very good response from the talented Anurag Kashyap.
