The top-notch Bhojpuri film producers have joined hands to organize the star spangled stage show 'Bhojpuri Hungama', first of its kind in India and the world. It will be mother of all shows according to Mehmood Ali of 'Pen and Camera International' who is producing the show in association with 'First Release Worldwide Company'. Twenty shows are being planned in various parts of India and the rest of the world. The shows will premier in a huge stadium with a capacity of 35,000 people at Maharashtra's powerloom town Bhivandi.
Bhojpuri film industry has grown leaps and bounds in recent years. It has narrowed the gap with popular Hindi cinema in terms of its reach and appeal. This sweet dialect of eastern UP and western Bihar is spoken in different parts of the world today. The fact that a number of Hindi film stars have turned to Bhojpuri cinema is proof of its growing popularity. Hundreds of Bhojpuri films are being made and released every year.
Contrary to the normal belief, Bhojpuri films are being watched beyond the boundaries of UP and Bihar. These films are doing very good business in Maharashtra, Punjab, Bengal, Chateesgarh, MP, and the rest of India. Bhojpuri is a simple language and all Hindi-speaking audiences can understand and appreciate it easily. According to an estimate, almost one-third population of India can speak and/or understand Bhojpuri.
Bhojpuri Diaspora is spread in countries like Mauritius, Ghana, West Indies, Fiji, Nepal, Dubai, Indonesia, and Holland. There is great demand for Bhojpuri films and its music in these places. This has also contributed to the tremendous popularity of Bhojpuri film stars. People line up for hours to watch the movies of these stars.
Audiences all over want to see these stars in flesh and blood now, on a stage, dancing, singing, and delivering their Bhojpuri dialogues. Mehmood Ali could sense this during the shooting of his films across the globe and this led to the planning and designing of the grand stage show 'Bhojpuri Hungama'. It is his dream project that will turn into a reality with its premier on 26 October, 2006, at Bhivandi.
All the big time stars of the Bhojpuri films will participate in this event. Among the big names are Kader Khan, singer and actor Manoj Tewari 'Mridul', Ravi Kishan, Nagma, Kashmira Shah, Rani Chatterji, Lovey, and Aasif. They represent the who's who of Bhojpuri cinema. Ashok Bhatia is handling the media co-ordination.
Hungama is being organized in Bhivandi, Mr. Mehmood Ali says that 26th October coincides with Eid, Diwali, and Chat. And Bhivandi has the largest concentration of Bhojpuri speaking people in this part of India. This is the right time and place for a show of this nature.
