Punjabi films, language, and music have global appeal these days. These films are a far cry from Hindi cinema that is full of sleaze and violence. They promote Indian traditions, culture, ethos, and values. Some of the Punjabi films have done better than Hindi films at the box office. They have a pan India appeal and reach and have been doing exceptionally well in overseas markets as well.
M.V. Films International launched its film Dil Mera Modd De with a grand muhurat in Mumbai's Time & Again hotel. Ever popular and highly respected Dara Singh, who is a member of the Parliament, presided over the function. He is also doing a very important role in the film. The film is produced by V.S. Sandhu and directed by Kamal Monga. Guru Sevak Mann, the popular Punjabi singer, is playing the lead role. It is his first film in a leading role. The special attraction of the muhurat party was the Bhangra players who came all the way from Punjab to perform on the occasion and enlivened the event.
While talking about the film, its director Kamal Monga said that the story of the film is inspired by real incidents in Punjab. Punjabi boys from abroad come to India, marry Indian girls, and then take them away. It is later that the girls and their families get to know that the much-celebrated groom was already married. A lot of parents do it in the high hope that their daughters will be happy and well provided for in the land of plenty. These hopes are often belied. It has become a kind of a well-organised scam now. We wish to make people aware of the problem and the ground realities through this film and also remind them about true Punjabiyat and its values.
Apart from Gurusevak Mann, other actors in the film are Avtaar Gill, Upasana Singh, Rana Jung Bhadur, Bittu Chhabra, Gopi Bhalla, Deepak Raja, Jagtar Singh, Daljeet Kaur, Narendra Jat, Roopendra Kaur, Sameep Kang, Gurpreet Rana, and above all Dara Singh. The music is by Gurusevak Mann and Arvind Singh. Jogindara and Maya are presenting it. Executive producer is Sateendra Singh Sanju and Publicity by Ashok Bhatia.
