After writing lyrics for more than 6000 songs for more than 564 Hindi films, 22 Bhojpuri films, 32 private albums, having more than 25 years of experience in the film industry, achieving three Filmfare awards for best lyrics, nominated for 9 Filmfare, 3 IIFA, 1 Zee Cine, and 1 screen awards, Sameer is all set to write history again.
Director-Producer Nikhil Advani has signed Sameer for his 5 upcoming movies. It is happening for the first time in Bollywood's history that a lyricist is been signed by any director for writing lyrics for his upcoming movies on this scale.
It is because of Sameer's proficiency and hard work that he is one of the most prolific Bollywood lyricists. Sameer's versatility and imagination has dropped five upcoming movies of Nikhil Advani in his pocket. Nikhil Advani, a well known director of movies like Kal Ho Na Ho and Saalam-e-Ishq has done wonders on silver screen and now after signing Sameer for his five films, some more wonders are also expected.
Sameer is pleased with his latest achievement as he wants to write more melodious songs which are meaningful along with making people happy. He has the ability of expressing most precious emotions in words. On the other hand, Nikhil is also very happy that Sameer will write songs for his films.
Sameer has worked with the maximum number of music directors and whatever his critics said; he proved his excellence in work. He has done a maximum number of films i.e. 146 with the music director duo of Anand Milind, writing for approx 899 songs for them.
Although Sameer wrote his first song 'Gori pareshaan hai kali pareshaan hai'' for the movie 'Bekhabar', it was with Dil that Sameer became the hottest new lyricist on the block. The turning point of his career was Ashiqui for which Sameer occupied centre stage. His melodious words in Ashiqui created the biggest impact on the hearts of listeners. After that, Sameer firmly established himself as the first choice of music directors.
Nowadays he is working with the top notch composers and directors. His latest ventures are Race and Mere Baap Pehle Aap in which he has proved his brilliance. 'Pehli Nazar Main' song from the movie Race has registered the top position for a long time for him and now his new song 'Ishq Subhaan Allah' from the movie Mere Baap Pehle Aap is a dance track which has made everyone hit the dance floor. Sameer has taken the music of Hindi motion pictures to a level ahead.
Sameer has been honored for three Filmfare awards for his movies- Aashiqui, Deewana and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and for the movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, he has won Zee Cine Award also. Sameer had to go through his share of toil and hardship to achieve this position. His father was also a well known lyricist whose name helped him to get an audition with music directors but beyond this it nearly proved to be his under doing.
Sameer says, 'I have learned from my father that nothing succeeds like success in the film industry and once the ball is set in motion, there is no stopping for it.'
After the recent triumph in his professional life, Sameer seems to have reached an elevation in his career. A lyricist, who says that pain has to be first felt to be able to express it, says that now is the most creative time, and is doing fewer but quality oriented movies including this new venture with Director Nikhil Advani.
