Big foreign investors in entertainment are coming to India and the one that we are going to reveal now is really big! If reports flowing in are to be believed, The Walt Disney Company Pte Ltd's Southeast Asian wing, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, will invest approximately INR 805 crores into UTV Software Communications Limited.
It is also said that The Walt Disney Company will invest with UTV in UTV's Global Broadcasting Limited (UGBL) by obtaining around 15% of the shares that is worth $ 30 million. The Walt Disney Company's investment together in UTV and UGBL with warrants issued to Ronnie Screwvala's Promoter Group would be $ 330 million.
It is said that Ronnie Screwvala has commented that the partnership across Movies, TV Content, Interactive and Broadcasting would endorse their leadership position in India and South East Asia and would also propel their already growing global story to a wider reach.
With many giant firms looking forward to invest in India the entertainment sector sure seems to have a very promising many-fold growth in future.
