The inaugural ceremony of the third Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) was held at a local hotel on Friday night.
The American Ambassador to Pakistan, Cameron Munter, was the chief guest on the occasion.
The two-day festival formally commenced from Saturday morning.
It is being organized by the British Council in collaboration with the Oxford University Press (OUP) Pakistan.
The Managing Director of OUP Pakistan, Ms. Ameena Saiyid, presented the welcome address.
The Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Karachi, Dr Tilo Klinner, Mashood Rizvi, Director British Council Sindh, and Asif Farrukhi also expressed their views on the occasion.
According to organizers, the KLF will bring together international and Pakistani writers to showcase writing at its best.
