As far as the movie industry is concerned the heroes and heroines are celebrated and loved by fans, the directors respected by their peers and audiences and the successful producers laugh and dance all the way to the bank. The assistant directors are the human pillars who hold the film together from conception to completion and they are the unsung heroes for whom nothing is certain in life, be it a livelihood, a family life or the realization of their dream to become a director.
Director Chimbudevan at the recent audio launch function of ‘Puli’ gave his assistant directors a much due respect by calling the entire team on the stage and openly acknowledging their contributions for the film saying that they are as important to ‘Puli’ as Illayathalapathy Vijay. Ealier during Vijay’s ‘Kaththi’ audio launch A.R. Murugadoss too did the same and it is nice to see these creators give credit where it is due and thereby giving a moral boost to the men and women whose only goal in life is to see their dreams realized on celluloid sometime in the future.
