As reported a couple of days ago, Ram Gopal Varma is keen on making a film on Veerappan, the notorious sandalwood smuggler who successfully evaded arrest for decades.
The life and times of the forest brigand could very easily make an absorbing tale on the silver screen. Brutal attacks on police personnel and hoodwinking two state governments Tamilnadu and Karnataka using the dense forests of the Sathyamangalam forests as cover caught national attention for many years.
Muthulakshmi, wife of the slain bandit had recently been to Mumbai for discussions with RGV's team. Terming the filmmaker as 'very professional and trustworthy' Muthulakshmi said, she would be the film's consultant throughout the entire production process.
Says Muthulakshmi, "I have been offered to act as myself in the film. I am considering this offer and might act if there are no marriage scenes in the film'.
She doesn't want some actor who plays Veerappan to tie the knot even though it is just for a film.
With RGV's penchant in making gangster movies, the film on the life and times of Veerappan could get mighty engrossing. However the movie will be directed by Prashant Pandey (writer for Sarkar Raj) and will be produced by RGV and Ekta Kapoor.
