Well-known movie producer Venus Govindarajan died in Chennai yesterday. He was ill for a longtime. He was 85.
He is survived by his two sons, producer Sathya Jothi T.G. Thyagarajan and T.T.G. Thyagasaravanan
He had made immortal movies like Uthama Puthiran and Kalyana Parisu.
In all, he had produced around 50 movies in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Bengali.
The other memorable hits under his belt were En Annan, Pattanathil Bootham, the movie that launched K R Vijaya into limelight.
In Telugu, his made Manchi Vadu with A. Nageswara Rao.
In Hindi he made Nazraana with Raj Kapoor, Saathi with Rajendra Kumar.
However, his more recent claim to fame was that he launched Mani Rathnam as a director.
Mani made his directorial debut with Pallavi Anu Pallavi in Kannada.
Govindarajan married popular comedienne T.A. Maduram's sister T.A. Pattammal. She pre-deceased him a couple of years ago.
