The music of the Tamil version of Superstar Prince Mahesh Babu's Srimanthudu, titled Selvandhan, was launched today (Aug 4th) evening at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Chennai in the presence of the press and some uncontrollably crazy and enthusiastic fans of Mahesh Babu who were shouting "star star superstar zindabad" whenever his name was mentioned by any of the speakers in the hall.
This is the first time that Mahesh Babu is coming to Chennai to promote his release and there was a great atmosphere in the hall. The Tamil trailer & 3 video song teasers were played on the big screen before the customary speeches. All the speakers were profuse in their praise for Mahesh, as expected.
Jagapathi Babu - "I wonder if this is Chennai or Hyderabad. It is my privilege to play dad to the handsome Mahesh Babu. Both of us grew up in Chennai and both Hyderabad and Chennai feel the same to us. Tamil people support good cinema always and we hope it happens with our film too."
K.E.Gnanavel Raja - "I welcome Mahesh Babu sir to Tamil Nadu. Suriya, Karthi, Yuvan, Venkat Prabhu and Mahesh were all students of St. Bede's in Chennai. We should support good content irrespective of language and post the huge support and reach for Baahubali, I request the media to extend their support to Selvandhan too."
Editor Mohan - "Mahesh will be so fresh and youthful in whatever he does. I keep telling Ravi to follow him. Okkadu is unforgettable."
Dharani - "If Mahesh Babu hadn't done Okkadu, I wouldn't have done Ghilli here. I was scared if I could pull off the remake but we did."
Kalaipuli Thanu - "Mahesh Babu's facial expressions and attitude would be so good on screen. I wish he does more films here as he would surely crack the market here too very soon."
K.S.Ravikumar - "I know him from his younger days as a good looking kid here in Chennai. When other actors need to strain, exert and shout to show aggression, Mahesh's look alone is enough to convey the scene across."
Devi Sri Prasad - "Mahesh Babu's body language always stands out. He was brilliant in 1, in which I worked. The Selvandhan album was readied in a very short time span and I thank lyricist Viveka who has worked diligently on all the songs and of course my musicians and all singers who co-operated irrespective of the time of the day." (He also sang the 'Jaago Re' song briefly on heavy public demand)
Koratala Siva - "I have belief in good content that it will work everywhere."
Mahesh Babu - "This is the 1st time that I am making a public speech in Tamil. It is a very proud moment for me as my initial days were in Chennai. I thank all the Tamil film dignitaries who have come here to welcome us. This is a good film and I thank all my team members for their effort."
