Case No 18/9 Review

'Case No 18/9' which is a remake of Tamil hit 'Vazhakku Enn 18/9' is a film which is not only different but also surprises you by its content. The film is a combination of two opposite classes, tastes, identities and what not.
The film starts off with the Police arresting Mahadeva (Niranjan Shetty) a road side hotel worker on the charge of attacking a girl with acid. The Police Inspector Revanna (Rangayana Raghu) starts interrogating Mahadeva and slowly the story is revealed. Mahadeva tells how he was attracted towards a girl called (Lakshmi) and what all happened in the process. Not only the Police, but the audience also understands that one more story is attached in this love story.

How is the story interconnected with this story is to be seen in theatres itself.
The highlight of the film is the wonderful story and screenplay by Balaji Shaktivel. Director Mahesh Rao has not made many changes in the film and has remained loyal in most parts of the film. Apart from a few boring moments in the first half, the film makes the audience glued to the seats. That too the last 45 minutes of the film has been done really well. Not only the way the climax is picturised, but also the rerecording done by music director Arjun Janya makes the audience connects with the sequences.

Another highlight of the film is the performances by Niranjan Shetty and Rangayana Raghu. Niranjan Shetty as the innocent Mahadeva is excellent throughout the film. Rangayana Raghu as the police inspector gives a wonderful performance. His transformation from a so called honest police officer to a most corrupt police officer is efficiently brought on screen. Sindhu Lokanath does not have many dialogues, but the actress has done a good job. Performances by other artistes like Karthik Sharma, Girija Lokesh, Abhishek, Shwetha Pandith, Mico Nagaraj is also up to the mark.

Sabha Kumar who is known for his realistic lighting and camera work gets applause from the audience once again. Music and rerecording by Arjun Janya and editing by Deepu S Kumar are also good.
