Aadatha Aattamellam Movie Reviews

Much was expected from debutant Azhagar for he was a former associate of director Selvaraghavan. The master is known for his crafty movies with bold themes. Unfortunately protégé has disappointed the fans coming out with a movie that has a preachy storyline with mediocre show by the technicians and the star cast.

A youth turning drug-addict eventually loses focus on everything and forgets his own family is a beaten to bush storyline. But the manner in which they have been dealt never failed to sustain our interest. But ‘Aadatha Aattamellam’ is more clichéd and predictable.
Ravi Ganesh, who played one of the lead roles in ‘Gummalam’, plays a basketball player, whose life end in shambles as he takes to drugs. The movie boasts of Jenny Jasmine (Meera Jasmine’s sister) and ‘Ammuvagiya Naan’ Bharathy in key roles. Azhagar has woven a script that begins as an emotional saga between a sister and brother and slowly the latter turn towards drugs.

Anand (Ravi Ganesh) loses his parents at his young age and is brought up by his sister (Jenny Jasmine). Both share an excellent rapport between them. Finally Anand’s sister is persuaded to marry Rishi (Rishi), who loves her. But his family turns down her request to bring Anand also to her in-law’s house with her. Anand stays at college hostel, where he is exposed to drugs. He fails in his academics and forgets basketball. He madly runs behind drugs and almost turns a beast. Steps in his sister to rescue him. Did she succeed in her mission forms the crux?

Ravi Ganesh has played it well. His body language as a drug-addict is good. The rest of the star cast including Jenny Jasmine and Bharathy passes then muster. A R Rahana (Rahman’s sister) has scored the music. A couple of tunes are ok. Otherwise it sounds very familiar.

‘Aadatha Aattamellam’ is a movie sans any thrills and is more preachy and tacky.
