The story opens in the place New Delhi in 1999. Jessica (Myra), a young attractive model and a bar tender is shot dead at one biggie’s party by a prominent politician son Manish (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub) at a newly launched bar. Her crime of being shot is her refusal to serve alcohol after the bar, being closed. The entire party members are the witnesses of this murder, but things take turn when the case steps into the court. With the political power, Manish rich dad buys the witnesses and makes them turn in favor of Manish. Jessica’s sister Sabrina (Vidya Balan) joins with feisty TV reporter Meera (Rani Mukerji) and sets the things right, forms the rest of the story.
Performances
Vidya Balan delivers good performance in Jessica’s sister role by depicting apt feelings like helplessness, sorrow, gratitude and her style of dialogues. Vidya must be appreciated for her performance oriented roles these days like Paa, Ishqiya and now, No One Killed Jessica.
Rani Mukherji arrests us to the screens as a dynamic journalist. She gave a rocking performance by getting into the depth of the role.
Other casts of the film Myra as Jessica is alright. Rajesh Sharma, who played the investigating police officer, was perfect. Satyadeep Misra is good and Shireesh Sharma as a politician, who tries to save his son has done a great job.
Technicalities
We need to appreciate director Raj Kumar Gupta for his brave attempt in bringing out the reality-episode. He narrated the story as a thriller making us glued to the seats in many scenes but director could have made it more interesting as this real-life story plot is already known to the audience.
Editing could have been a bit better by trimming down the dragged scenes in the film. But Aarti Bajaj has done good job in the second-half especially in the last 45minutes which maintained the flow and pace on the film.
Anay Goswamy’s cinematography is perfect. The visual effects in the film need a special mention.
Amit Trivedi’s meaningful music is felt all over the film. He gave a catchy and lively music that uplifts the spirit behind the story.
