Hudugaata Movie Reviews

This is a stylishly made cinema with strong inspiration from English film 'It Happened one night' and Hindi film 'Dil Hai Ki Mantha Nahin'. The script is worn out but narration is new to Kannada audience. Last two months Kannada audiences have seen 'Ekadantha' a film moving in a bus. This week in 'Hudugaata' the developments takes place in a travel. In 'Hudugaata' the cinematography, editing and tolerable music takes the film to good height. This is a running cinema €“ to be precise the real 'Chalana Chitra'. The protagonists Ganesh and Rekha travel from Bangalore to Kaynakumari changing the vehicles to reach the destination and their objective. Like how the road humps and speed breakers are found in their journey a few unimportant scenes are found in the narration of this film.

Balu (Comedy Time Ganesh) is a reporter of 'Satya Vahini' newspaper. He is always behind scoops that boomerangs his reputation. On a punishment Balu is sent to Kanyakumari to cover a sports assignment. In his journey he finds a girl in the Muslim costume. His suspicion starts from here and he goes on his mobile to feed the story and fix the lead story. Very quickly Balu learns that the lady is nothing but Priya (Rekha) daughter of a software business tycoon. Priya explain her situation and the reason behind running away from home to Balu. In the process of this flash back they miss the bus. They are left with a little money and Balu promises Priya to take her to fiancé Rahul. It is this Rahul the badminton champion player Priya's father is opposing because he flirts. As reels pass both Balu and Priya come to know each other and without their knowledge they fall in love. But Balu is a different kind of person. He does not like this affluence and promptly calls up Priya's father and sees the safety of her. But in the meantime Balu has dispatched a story to his newspaper that gives all details about Priya who is missing according to newspapers in Bangalore.

That is not the end of it. Balu meets Priya's father and ask for the money he has spent on his daughter. That is exactly Rs.2991. Immensely happy with this attitude of Balu Priya's father ask him to marry his daughter and saver her from the clutches of a flirt Rahul. At the marriage hall it is as expected. The pure love wins against the fame and affluence.

The talkative golden star of Kannada cinema comedy time Ganesh has a tailor made role for him. His screen presence is good the dialogues are very soft spoken and convincing. With lovely costumes in songs portions he looks stylish. The depth of 'Mungaru Male' is missing in this film. His smoking on screen is what irritates. Rekha looks very beautiful. Her naughty attitudes are attractive. She is the right choice for this film. Komal steals the story in the comedy department. Avinash in funny histrionics is convincing.

There are three lovely tunes from Jassie Gift. Stylo Stylo€¦., Yeno Onthara€¦.., Are Are Saguthidhe€¦..are worth hearing again. Satya Hegde takes the credit for excellent cinematography. It is a difficult task for him because he has to keep on moving behind this script and narration as the proceedings are told in a travel. In the long shots capturing the scenic beauty Hegde is brilliant. Editing by newcomer Prakash is another redeeming feature. The cut shots and mixing it in songs is a new attempt.

This is a passable film.
