Hat-trick was a memorable moment: Roach

West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach has termed his hat-trick against the Netherlands as most “memorable” and said the side will go to Bangladesh on a high after their flawless performance in a World Cup Group B match here Monday.

The West Indies, who opened their points tally after losing the first match against South Africa, next play Bangladesh Friday. Roach, who took the sixth hat-trick of the World Cup during an impressive spell of 6-27 in 8.3 overs, said they will be going all out for a win against Bangladesh Friday.

“Things worked out fine today. We will go on a high to Bangladesh and look to win that as well,” Roach said after his team’s 215 run win over the Netherlands.

“I am very proud of myself, the hat-trick is most memorable.”

Interestingly, Roach says that he was not aware that he was on a hat-trick before captain Darren Sammy alerted him.

“When I took my fifth wicket, the captain told me that I have a chance to take a hat-trick. I just concentrated on the job,” he said.

Roach said all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to an knee injury, inspired him to come with the stellar performance.

“Dwayne Bravo inspired me in the morning with his talk. He told me to enjoy myself and be confident of what you do.”

“I am picked for a job and I am not under any pressure. My goal is bowl fast. It is however, tough to be a fast bowler in the subcontinent and be accurate.

“We have a good bowling attack and we are very confident. We had a good preparation and we are improving,” he said.
