Bad light stopped play on the opening day of the second Test match between India and South Africa in Kingsmead on Thursday.
Murali Vijay (91) and Cheteshwar Pujara (58) were at the crease with India at 181 for one in 61 overs.
The duo added 140 runs in 47.5 overs.
Earlier both Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara struck unbeaten half-centuries to take India to a commanding 163 for one at tea.
Vijay was batting on 76 off 167 balls with the help of 14 boundaries, while Pujara was unbeaten on 55 off 103 balls during which he found the fence seven times at the end of the post-lunch session.
