Pori Review
by MyMazaa.comDirector Subramaniam Siva had rendered a racy entertainer in Thiruda Thirudi. Still to come out of the mode, the young director has dished out a commercial cocktail in Pori with Jeeva dominating all through.
After playing a few tough characters in the recent past, it is an easy outing for Jeeva, who has donned the role of a boy-next-door who has to toughen up due to circumstances. He amazes with his body language and his facial expressions. Jeeva has matured as an actor. Especially in the stunt sequences, he walks away with applause.
Giving him good company is Pooja. She has shaken her legs for pacy numbers, set to tunes by Dheena. The slim and cute-looking actor from Bangalore has played her part well as a TV journalist in the movie. Karunas as Jeeva's friend is adequate.
Walking away with all honors is Nagesh. He is cool and spontaneous on the screen. A seasoned veteran, he has stamped his class in the limited opportunity that he has got.
Director Seeman makes his foray into acting and has played his part well. Also, the cast includes Delhi Ganesh, T.P.Gajendran, 'Kadhal' Thandapani, Gana Ulaganathan, Seeman, Shanmugarajan and Lakshmanan.
The movie revolves around Jeeva, who sells books in a small shop.
His father (Nagesh), a school teacher, on his retirement buys a building for Jeeva to run his bookstore. Enters a rich businessman from abroad (Seeman), claiming ownership for the property. Coming to know that they had been cheated by an influential gang, Jeeva sets on a mission to teach them a lesson.
A sequence of events helps Jeeva come to know the involvement of politicos. How he teaches all a lesson is the movie.
All credit goes to Subramaniam Siva for lacing the movie with good commercial elements. A mix of humour, romance and sentiment helps sustain the interest of the audience.
If his Thiruda Thiudi showed Dhanush as a way-ward youth, in Pori, Jeeva is portrayed as a responsible youth.
Dheena's music is foot-tapping. He has come up with catchy songs. He adds pace to the movie with his racy background score.
The movie is produced by P S Rajendran for Nivi Pavi Creations.
A commercial entertainer sure to make front-benchers happy.
