Thoofan Review
by MyMazaa.comStory
Vijay Khanna is aggressive young cop who is unable to change his attitude looking at the deteriorating system and this leads him in 22 transfers in 5 years. But Vijay Khanna doesn’t change his attitude and he gets transferred from Hyderabad to Mumbai. He gets the task on investigating deputy collector and soon he finds himself locking horns with oil mafia don Rudra Pratap Teja (Prakash Raj). Vijay Khanna also comes across Maya (Priyanka Chopra), an NRI who is eye-witness of the murder case and seeks her help giving shelter in his house. The rest of the story is about how Vijay Khanna fights against the system and his battle with Teja.
Performances
Ram Charan has stepped into the role of Big B and the actor fits into the aggressive cop role quite well. With a good screen presence, he grabs the audiences with his mannerisms.
Priyanka Chopra looked good but her characterization could have been better and her scenes looked silly at times. She looked hot in Pinky and Mumbai Ke hero songs though.
Srihari goes overboard at times while Prakash Raj gives a brilliant performance and Mahie Gill is just okay. Tanikella Bharani appears in a significant role and others were adequate.
Technical Analysis
Cinematography by Gururaj is neat while the musical scores are good the bgm is a great minus. Editing is inconsistent and dialogues lack the essence. Apoorva Lakhia fails to impress as director though he made the screenplay look racy. Production Values are good.
Analysis
The film had the similar plot as the original though not scene-to-scene remade but Apoorva Lakhia has missed on its essence in the remake. Thoofan is made on the modern day settings, but nothing works for the film. The writing is bad and the direction is poor while screenplay has loose ends. Misplacement of songs is another negative aspect of the film. Few action sequences and Ram Charan-Prakash Raj would entertain the mass masala movie lovers. Romantic scenes between Ram Charan and Priyanka Chopra could’ve been better. The second half has been a bit better than the first hour but the climax has been abruptly ended.
